Not even if you spray it into your mouth! That’s what Patrick David Butler learned after his dangerously sloppy driving got him pulled over in Rock Hill, South Carolina. When police approached his vehicle, they witnessed him spraying Axe Body Spray into his mouth. Asked why he was doing this, Patrick said he was spraying himself ‘from head to toe.’
A lot of people still believe that if they can cover up the stench from their drunkenness, they can avoid DUI. This reasoning ALWAYS fails.
First off, you can’t stop the drink stink of your breath by spraying anything into your mouth. The smell doesn’t come from your mouth. It comes out through your mouth from your lungs. Patrick still reeked. His body spray had ZERO effect on his breathalyzer test which came in at .13 BAC. Ideas like this NEVER work and just make a person look stupid as well as drunk!
Secondly, the breathalyzer is only one component of a field sobriety test. People who are drunk enough to try covering up their aroma don’t fare well in these other tests and true to form, Patrick performed very poorly.
He also told officers that he had been drinking Jack Daniels and beer before pouring himself into his Nissan Frontier. Christmas is coming and I guess he wanted to put a bow on it. That’s nice since he won’t be able to afford presents for anyone else this year.
